Louie Palu

Louie Palu is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker whose work has examined critical issues for over 30-years. He has been selected for a John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, World Press Photo Award and has lectured worldwide. Louie has covered the Arctic since 1993 and is well known for his work from the polar region which examines this key environment of our planet. In 2015 he began a special 10-year project visually mapping the Arctic traveling over 100,000 miles to over 7 Arctic countries working in temperatures as low as -60 degrees for National Geographic. Louie has also covered the wars in Afghanistan, Ukraine and surveyed the entire U.S. Mexico border. His work has been published, exhibited and screened worldwide. His photographs are in the collections of numerous museums, libraries, and archives including the National Gallery of Art, Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Museum of Fine Arts Houston and Ogden Museum of Southern Art. From sailing through the Northwest Passage, to the glaciers of Greenland and observing polar bears up close, Louie’s perspective and work take you to one of the most inaccessible regions of the planet.
