Bertie O. Gregory

Bertie Gregory is a wildlife filmmaker, photographer and presenter. In July 2014, Gregory graduated from the University of Bristol with a degree in zoology. The next day, he boarded a plane to begin assisting National Geographic Explorer Steve Winter in South Africa on assignment for National Geographic. Gregory’s task was to film Winter as he attempted to photograph the urban leopards of Mumbai and the jungle leopards of Sri Lanka. Following this expedition, the project evolved into a television program. The one hour special premiered on Nat Geo WILD in 2016. Gregory received a National Geographic Young Explorer Grant in 2015. As part of his National Geographic Society-funded project, Gregory's aim was to track down and film the elusive coastal wolf on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. This was Gregory's first solo assignment for National Geographic and became a 16-part weekly digital series that launched in the summer of 2016. Gregory was named Youth Outdoor Photographer Of The Year 2012, the Scientific Exploration Society Zenith Explorer in 2015, and his first film, “West Coast Adventure,” was nominated for the Youth Award at the Wildscreen Panda Awards in 2014. Gregory, along with Explorer Pablo "Popi" García Borboroglu, was named the 2025 Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year.
